Project Overview

Satec Service Ltd designed, manufactured, installed, and commissioned a bespoke landfill leachate treatment plant for Waste Recycling Group. The system combines an Aerated Suspended Growth Plant (ASGP) with a Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) plant to treat landfill leachate before safe discharge to the sewer network.

The treatment process was developed to remove suspended solids, colloidal material, and organic contaminants while maintaining optimum pH and nutrient levels through automated chemical dosing and process control.

Treatment Process

Raw leachate is pumped from the landfill collection lagoon into the Aerated Suspended Growth Plant (ASGP), where continuous aeration promotes biological treatment. Mixed liquor is transferred to an integrated settlement zone, allowing solids to separate before treated supernatant is decanted for further processing.

The treated leachate then passes through a Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) system, where compressed air, coagulants, and flocculants remove any remaining suspended solids. Following final treatment, the effluent is transferred to a balancing tank before being discharged to the sewer system.

The entire process is automatically controlled, with sodium hydroxide and phosphoric acid dosing providing continuous pH adjustment and nutrient control to optimise biological performance.
