Bag Filter Systems
Bag filter systems are one of the most effective and economical methods for removing suspended solids particles at levels in the region of around 0.2 to 1,500 microns, depending upon the type of filtration media utilised.
Solids are readily retained within the bag filter, making it a relatively quick and easy process to remove and dispose of them, prior to undertaking the installation of a replacement filter bag.
Associated housings are generally available in a wide range of materials and sizes, allowing bag filter systems to handle most fluid types at a wide range of flow rates.

Cartridge Filtration Systems
Cartridge filtration systems are one of the most effective and economical methods of removing suspended solids at levels of less than around 100 ppm from untreated or partially treated water sources, particularly as part of a pre-filter system for Reverse Osmosis facilities.

Dealkaliser Systems
The main advantages of dealkalisation over water softening in boiler systems includes a reduction in the frequency of blowdown operations (reducing water hardness), while in brewing it is generally used to adjust critical bicarbonate levels within the water through its blending with raw water.

Demineralisation Systems
Demineralisation Systems help with demineralisation of raw or softened water through the removal of both cationic and anionic species is particularly important in industries where a supply of purified water is critical, typically within rinsing operations associated with the manufacture of high specification products in the pharmaceutical or micro-electronics industry or within high pressure boiler systems.

Systems generally feature two pressure vessels with one containing cation ion exchange resin and the second holding an anion ion exchange resin, although in some applications mixed bed units can be utilised for polishing purposes.
Cations within the feed water (e.g. calcium, magnesium and sodium) will be removed by chemical exchange on the resin for hydrogen ions, while the remaining anions (e.g. chlorides, sulphates, nitrates and bicarbonates) are chemically exchanged for hydroxide ions. The water emanating from the process will thus consist of a mixture of both hydrogen ions and hydroxide ions, which will be pure in nature and of a low conductivity.
The type of ion exchange resin utilised will be highly dependent upon the impurities present within the feed water and the application in which the purified water is used.
Satec Service Ltd are able to supply skid mounted units, complete with conductivity instrumentation controlling the automatic regeneration of the facility, governed by a control system operating multi-port valving. Options for larger bespoke systems or containerised systems are also available.

Membrane Degasser units
Membrane degasser units offer an alternative to traditional chemical treatment routes for the effective removal of oxygen and carbon dioxide from process water used in industrial applications such as feed water for boilers, power generation and pharmaceuticals.
The removal of carbon dioxide and oxygen will generally eradicate corrosion problems within boiler systems, thus extending the life of process equipment and reducing down time and operational costs.
As well as offering a chemical-free solution, Membrane degasser units generally have a reduced footprint and lower installations costs, while their modular design offers the potential for future expansion or as a retro fitted to existing systems.

Nitrate Removal Plants
Nitrate Removal Plants are generally considered to be unsafe when present in drinking water and can have the potential to cause adverse health effects in children in particular.
The tried and trusted treatment route has long been ion exchange technology, with the emphasis on the use of nitrate selective ion exchange resins in preference to standard resins, which can preferentially take up other contaminants such as sulphates and arsenates instead.

Pressure Filter Systems

As the UK distributor of international group Eurowater we can supply pressure filter systems that can encompass either Sand, Multi-Media and Granular Activated Carbon, depending upon the application in question.
Sand Filters
Sand filtration is selected where the removal of suspended matter from water or wastewater is required, particularly for processes involving drinking water, swimming pools, car washes, groundwater treatment, food and drink production and the surface finishing industry.
In most cases it is used as a final polishing or purification filtration stage prior to use.
Multi-Media Filters
Multi media filters typically consist of three distinct layers of media based on anthracite, sand and/or garnet and a bottom supporting layer of gravel, which itself is non-filtering.
As a result of size and density differences of the various media, the larger and lighter anthracite will be on top, while the heavier and smaller garnet layer will remain towards the bottom of the pressure vessel.
The arrangement of the media therefore allows for the larger contamination particles to be filtered out near the top of the bed, while the smaller particles will be retained deeper in the media.
The combination therefore allows the entire media to function as a filter for a longer period between backwash operations and tends to have a higher efficiency of particulate removal.
Granular Activated Carbon Filters
Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) is selected where the removal of contaminants from water such as chlorine, taste and odour, or organic compounds is required, with most varieties being based upon coconut, coal, wood or bone.
The filtration process works by the adsorption of the contaminants on to the GAC as a result of its large internal surface area.
Other than the periodic backwashing of a filter to fluidise the bed to prevent channelling, when the GAC becomes exhausted as the surface becomes fully adsorbed the media is generally replaced with fresh material.

Depending upon the application, the types of water treatment systems available can cover filtration, water softening, reverse osmosis (RO), demineralisation and ultraviolet (UV) disinfection.
The rental units are typically ready to use upon shipment so that water treatment needs can be covered in a relatively short space of time following installation on site.
General applications can include the supply of clean water to cover emergencies and peak periods, temporary clean water during the renovation or replacement of existing systems to prevent production down-time and clean water for pilot projects.
Reverse Osmosis Plants
Reverse Osmosis plants are primarily used for the generation of demineralised water without the need for the chemicals that would by consumed by the demineralisation of raw or softened water through the use of regenerable cationic and anionic ion exchange resins.
Reverse Osmosis plants are used in industries where a supply of purified water is critical, typically within rinsing operations associated with the manufacture of high specification products in the pharmaceutical or micro-electronics industry or within high pressure boiler systems.
Reverse Osmosis will generally remove and retain more than 98% of the ionic species present within the water being treated and has the added benefit of also removing some pyrogen and micro-organism species.
As well as the operation of Reverse Osmosis systems being essentially chemical-free, other than those used for periodic descaling and cleaning regimes, it raises no wastewater problems other than a reject discharge stream that will contain the ionic species that have been removed, which can safely directed to drain.

Water Softeners
Water softeners help with the removal of hardness salts such as calcium and magnesium by exchange with sodium species has a number of benefits with an industrial environment, particularly the reduction of equipment down time and maintenance costs.

Systems generally feature two vessels, one of which contains an ion exchange resin, while the second holds a brine solution that is used to regenerate the resin when it becomes saturated with hardness ions.
Thermal Deaerators
Design, supply and installation of engineered plants for the removal of dissolved oxygen for boiler feed water using steam from the boiler to heat up the feed water and strip out the dissolved oxygen.
Residual oxygen can be from less than 50 ppb (with water and steam spray systems) for low pressure boilers down to less than 5 ppb (with water spray and packed saddles) for higher pressure boilers. The feed water temperature can vary from 10 to 85 deg C, the hotter the better to reduce the size of the Thermal deaeration section and the steam requirement. The deaerator normally operates at 105 deg C temperature and 0.210 barg pressure although other conditions can be accommodated.
The Thermal Deaerators section is from 304L or 316L stainless steel and the storage section below is from carbon steel. The storage section working capacity is usually 20 minutes although other sizes can be accommodated.
The deaerator is supplied with all fully automatic level and pressure controls, water and steam valves, level and pressure gauges, safety relief (pressure) valve, overflow valve and anti-vacuum valves. A self-contained controller can be supplied or incorporated into client’s control system.
Ancillaries include condensate return, chemical injection point (to achieve zero residual oxygen) or sparger type tank heating.
Ultra Violet (UV) units
The use of Ultra Violet (UV) units is the most efficient method of reducing the growth of microbiological species such as bacteria, viruses, algae, and fungi in both drinking water and process water sources.
Using a specific UK radiation wavelength, it effectively destroys the DNA of micro-organisms and renders the water disinfected.
UV systems are highly efficient and offer excellent operational reliability, while also being relatively easy to install and have minimum maintenance requirements compared to other technologies.

Vacuum Degassers
Vacuum Degassers is the process of reducing a high level of certain gases in water, such as oxygen and carbon dioxide, down to the natural level for specific purposes.
During a vacuum degassers process, the water is dispersed in a packed tower system under vacuum conditions and generally used where the discharge is required at a lower temperature than that required for thermal units.
Alternately vacuum degassing may also be achieved through the use of a packed column where, in a counter current flow of an inert gas such as nitrogen or carbon dioxide, oxygen is removed.

Glass Reinforced Plastic Water Tanks (GRP)
Satec Service Ltd provides many water tanks and accessories, such as polypropylene and GRP, including large GRP sectional tanks. Satec’s incorporation of GRP tanks into their designs fall in to two main categories, potable water and firefighting water storage.
GRP tanks require bracing, and the type depends on multiple factors, Satec Service Ltd has experience installing both the internally braced and externally braced systems. Installation of the tanks includes all associated pipework, valves, pump sets and walkways and handrails.
